GC5 – Our Core Convictions
REACHSTUDENTS: Following Jesus. Together.
Great Companion: Be Directed and Empowered!
Jesus Christ is the head of the Church. Through the Holy Spirit, He has promised to be our ever present counselor, guide and empowerment in life and ministry. Therefore, as we engage in the cause of Christ as a ReachStudents team, we will prioritize dependence upon and active cooperation with the leading and empowering of the Holy Spirit through obedience to the inspired Word and continual practice of dependent, fervent prayer.
(Matthew 28:19; John 14-16; Luke 11:1-13; Acts 1:8; 10:19; 15:28; 8:29; 10:44; 11:12)
Great Commission: Make Disciples that Make Disciples!
Jesus clearly commissioned His followers to be disciples who make disciples who make disciples. As a ReachStudents team, we will seek to personally model, motivate and mobilize others to join the cause of Jesus Christ to make disciples of all people; especially those in the emerging generation.
(Mark 16:15-16; Luke 24:46-49; John 20:21-22; Acts 1:8)
Great Commandment: Love God Supremely & Others Sacrificially!
God has commanded us to love Him supremely and others sacrificially. As a ReachStudents team, we will seek to live in a passionate treasuring of the Triune God that is reflected in unselfishly seeking what is best for those God has given us the privilege to serve.
(Matthew 22:37-40; Mark 12:28-31; Luke 20:25-28)
Great Compassion: Be Broken and Moved...to Action!
The integration of the gospel into our lives results in a reflection of divine compassion that compels us to the erasing of dividing lines by moving toward the least, last, lost and left out. As a ReachStudents team, we will live in a posture of compassion that moves to reconciling action among all people.
(Matt. 14:14; 15:32; 20:34; Mark 8:2; Mark 6:34; Matt. 9:36-38)
Great Community: Follow Jesus, TOGETHER!
Our new life in Christ, as well as our contribution to God’s Kingdom agenda, is designed to be experienced within the context of a gospel community. As a ReachStudents team, we will function within interdependent relationships among one another and other EFCA leaders as we seek to invite young people into an Acts 2:42-47 culture within the context of their family and the local church. (Genesis 12:2; Deut. 6:1-15; Matt. 18:16-20; Luke 10:1; 1 Cor. 12:12-31; Col. 3:11-17; Titus 1:5;
James 5:16)
